Various speakers portrayed pre-Civil War characters with various positions on the turbulent
issues of the day.
The opening gunshots fired by a Southern sympathizer sparked a 20 minute fierce battle
that ended in defeat for the Southeren cause.
Pro Southern Army
Elliotts Scouts made up the bulk of the pro-Southern forces. Although outnumbered by
the enemy, they fought and died bravely.
Pro Union Forces
The Olathe Union Guard and the 1st Missouri Engineers A Company provided the bulk of
the fighting Forces for the pro-Union Cause in Sunday's battle.
