Despite the last minute cancellation of the "Guest of Honor", Mr. Bill Kurtis; the Battle of Mine Creek Documentary Premier in Fort Scott, Kansas drew an enthusiastic full house. Several reenactors from around the Midwest and several local residents combined to make the premier a huge success. An estimated 465 people showed up for the Saturday evening event in Fort Scott Kansas and an additional 100 people attended the Sunday premier in Linn County, KS.at the Prairie View Performing Arts Center. Together the two events raised some $2000 for the Mine Creek Battlefield Foundation. Due to a prior contractual agreement with another assignment, Mr.Bill Kurtis was wisked away to California to cover late breaking news in the Laci Peterson double murder trial.  Mr.Kurtis was however able to record a special video message for the audience and the gesture was much appeciated.
