While it's not too unusual to see female field nurses on the battlefield during a reenactment, it's rare that you will find one actually
firing a cannon! And this was no ordinary charge either. Nor was this any ordinary field nurse. Michelle Martin, an instructor at Fort Scott Community College, has played many roles at reenactments and living History events over the years. From a Confederate Sweetheart
to a Yankee Doodle Dandie Damsel in distress, Michelle pulled off  yet another memorable impression as she blew away oncoming Confederates Soldiers Advancing on the Hill! Michelle explains in a stirring letter how the unforgettable scene unfolded:

As the Union Gun crew lay dead and out of commission on the last battle,
 Michelle found  another opportunity to fire on the enemy!
